Meet Baba – a Tiny Dog with a Big Personality

Baba is a 10-year-old Chorkie (Chihuahua/Yorkshire Terrier cross) who came into Islay Rescue due to a change in his family's circumstances. Weighing just 3kg, he may be tiny, but he has plenty of character packed into that little frame.

Baba is currently thriving in one of Islay's most experienced foster homes. When he first arrived, he displayed severe food-guarding behaviour. Thanks to the dedication and hard work of his foster carers, this has improved dramatically and is now largely resolved. The only exception is when he has hidden a special treat in his crate. Any future adopter will receive guidance on managing this behaviour and will need to follow this advice carefully to ensure he continues to make progress. Treats should be given with caution, as Baba likes to stash them away and may nip if disturbed while protecting his "treasure."

Baba also has patella luxation in his rear legs, a common condition in small breeds. This occasionally causes him to hop or hold a leg up, but he is not in pain and it does not affect his quality of life. He requires no medication or treatment, although maintaining a healthy weight is important to avoid aggravating the condition.

He is missing a few teeth, but has no ongoing dental issues or special care requirements.

Despite his quirks, Baba is an affectionate little gentleman with an adorable "grumpy old man" personality. He loves greeting his people in the morning, enjoys cuddles and attention, and is always happy to join you for a nice walk. He walks beautifully on the lead and enjoys getting out and about.

Baba currently lives with both dogs and cats in foster care and gets along well with them. He travels well in the car and is fully house-trained.

Because of his history of food guarding, Baba cannot be placed in a home with children.

Baba is fully vaccinated, microchipped, assessed treated for parasites, neutered.

His adoption fee is £150, which helps Islay Rescue continue to care for dogs in need.

Could you offer Baba the loving, patient, and understanding home he deserves? This little character is looking for someone who will appreciate him for exactly who he is and give him the happy retirement he deserves.
