Jasper is a 8-year-old Bedlington Terrier, weighing approximately 8.9kg. He came into Islay Dog Rescue after his previous owners were no longer able to care for him. He is currently in foster, where he settled in quickly and has been getting on well with the resident dog, as well as other dogs he meets.
He does like to playfully chase the resident cat, so would be best suited to a home without cats, or with very dog-savvy cats.
Jasper is friendly and affectionate, while also appreciating his own space. He can display resource guarding around his food, so any adopters will need to be mindful of this and continue working on it with him. Due to this behaviour, he is not suitable to live with children.
He is house trained and walks well on a lead. Jasper could live in a flat, provided he receives three regular walks per day he does not toilet indoors. He can be left alone for up to four hours and enjoys having the radio on for company.
Jasper previously lived with a female owner and clearly has a soft spot for the ladies, though he has no issues living with or meeting men.
He travels well in the car.
