Meet Toni
Toni is a stunning 5‑year‑old brindle Greyhound, weighing about 32kg, who is searching for a loving home after retiring from the demanding world of racing. Still young and full of potential, he’s ready to trade the track for a warm bed, kind people, and a peaceful family life.
Toni is a happy, friendly, and affectionate boy with a wonderfully goofy nature. He loves the company of people and greets everyone he meets with a wagging tail and a warm, gentle enthusiasm. Playtime is one of his favourite things — he enjoys games with his people, other dogs, and loves chasing his ball and toys.
Like many ex‑racers, Toni has likely never lived in a home environment. His level of house training is currently unknown, so he’ll need patience, understanding, and guidance as he learns the rhythms of family life.
Out on walks, Toni is a delight. He walks beautifully on the lead, enjoys his daily outings, and loves having a good chase with other dogs in a secure area. Once the excitement is over, he’s just as happy to settle down and snooze in a comfortable spot — classic Greyhound style.
Because of his racing background, Toni cannot live with cats, small dogs, or other small animals, as he is likely to chase them. However, he could happily share his home with one or more medium‑to‑large dogs, given careful introductions.
Toni could live with dog‑aware children aged 12+ who understand his boundaries and will give him time to settle. He has travelled regularly in cars and vans during his racing career and is comfortable with vehicle travel.
Toni needs a patient, loving family who can help him adjust to home life at his own pace. He would thrive with adopters who enjoy gentle walks, playtime, and cosy evenings. With the right support, Toni has all the potential to blossom into a loyal and devoted companion.
He is fully vaccinated, microchipped, treated for parasites, assessed and neutered.
His adoption fee is £250, helping Islay Rescue continue their vital work caring for dogs in need.
